ABOUT US
We’re more than a venue, we’re a community legacy

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI’S EVENT SPACE

Built for everything our community has next

The Center offers flexible facilities for events of every scale, from concerts and conferences to rodeos, fairs, and festivals. With a full-service arena, modern conference space, barns, and an RV park, we provide the resources and support to bring your vision to life.

1997-1999
THE VISION TAKES SHAPE
What began as an idea from James Lynn Cartlidge, then President of the Forrest County Board of Supervisors, became reality when construction began in 1997. By 1999, the James Lynn Cartlidge Forrest County Multipurpose Center had opened, accompanied by dedication ceremonies and the 14th Annual USM Coca-Cola Classic Rodeo—a tradition that remains strong today.
BUILDING THE COMPLEX
2000-2003
Building the Complex
Growth came fast. Seven significant buildings have been constructed, with more in the works, transforming the grounds into a full-scale event complex.
New amenities—the 147-site RV Park, a conference center, and a 16-acre stocked lake—helped generate over $1 million in local economic impact by mid-2002.
Music, Momentum
& Meaning

2003-2005
Music, Momentum & Meaning
In 2003, B.B. King took the stage for the Medgar Evers 40th Homecoming Celebration, uniting Mississippi’s music and history under one roof.

By 2005, The Center housed over 300 livestock stalls with new barns underway—and when Hurricane Katrina hit, it became a shelter for people and pets, proving it was built for far more than events.

Anchoring the Pine Belt
2006–2019
Anchoring the Pine Belt
Through the next decade, The Center anchored the region’s identity—hosting rodeos, 4-H shows, FFA competitions, trade expos, concerts, and conventions.
A seasoned staff with decades of experience ensured every event ran seamlessly.

Partnerships with universities, tourism boards, and civic groups turned the venue into a pillar of regional entertainment and economic growth.

The Center Reimagined
2020-Present
The Center Reimagined
Even amid global challenges, The Center kept its doors—and its purpose—open.
Under new leadership and a new name, it entered a revitalized era: modern facilities, expanded programming, and a renewed commitment to youth, families, and community investment.

Today, The Center at Forrest County stands ready for what’s next—where tradition meets tomorrow and every event fuels something bigger than itself.
